fonts-sil-abyssinica software package provides smart Unicode font for Ethiopian and Erythrean scripts (Amharic et al.), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install fonts-sil-abyssinica
fonts-sil-abyssinica is installed in your system.
Make ensure the fonts-sil-abyssinica package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep fonts-sil-abyssinica *
You will get with fonts-sil-abyssinica package name, version, architecture and description in a table
